Since the beginning of his presidency, lincoln knew what he was aiming for. His goals for america would progress the country in more ways then imaginable. of course i personally disagreed with many of his ideals and beliefs, but now i understand they were all worth it. Lincoln was a father to our country and a major component to what makes up "the American dream." He redirected the idea of "freedom" by providing the foundation for african american equality that was once not there. His emancipation proclamation finally declared the black population free from slavery and shortly, after his induction of the 13th amendment made it law.
This freedom lincoln introduced was a long and complicated process known as the civil war. This war brought us many hardships and fatalies, but eventually we achieved our goal. He reconstructed us. traditions and Lincoln's success is what bought our freedom. Unlike many of the presidents i have been aquainted with before, lincoln understood in order for the country to survive it would need to make some changes. These changes may have been disliked at first, but they are what has provided us with our american dream.
